S/S 2013

I am pacing up and down, eyeing my ongoing work on the mannequin.
My expression might be politically incorrect but it really feels like facing a bull in bullfighting ring.
I haven’t got much time to screw it up.
So, the way I am grappling it by its horn is rather tentative…

The Runaways are on today’s menu while I am knitting away…

Image

Yea, I do remember them.
As a child, I thought they were a bit scary.  Cherie the lead singer, she was the first to sport a racy underwear on stage, wasn’t she? Even before Madonna…

Today’s weather was rather miserable as it drizzled incessantly.
Nevertheless, Hubbie and I trekked to WH Smith in Liverpool Street Station this lunchtime because we wanted to get hold of a copy of Creative Review in which Hubbie contribute monthly columns.

Together with Creative Reviews, I also bought French Vogue featuring S/S 2013.

Image

How do I find it?
Mmmm… Looks like a continuation of the previous season to me. Also, it’s more muted as well. I don’t find it massively exciting, I’m afraid.

My personal style next season will be definitely less black and more colour.
Even though monochrome seems to be in vogue, I just don’t fancy it for some reason.
The only collection I kind of like is by Isabel Marant…

Image

I just want anything light and airy. No goth or harlequin stuff please.
Even if it is endorsed by SB or MJ, it’s really not for me…

P.S. About my Hubbie’s column in Creative Review, it’s called “Art Directing the Idea“. Please take a peep if you fancy (^-^)

Test driving @ Waitrose, Barbican

The weather today was an ideal for cycling, not too hot or windy.
So I hopped on to my Brommie and off I went towards the City.
The lunchtime in the City was like an agitated beehive. The people were scurrying from all directions!

Anyway, after running errands at Moorgate, I swung by my local Waitrose at Barbican…

Image

Maneuvering around the aisles with 4 Easy Wheels was much easier than with just 2, that was for sure.
I also found that it was easier to push the bike like a wheelbarrow, rather than to tag it along.
Still, the wheels didn’t swivel like shopping carts’, so would need more getting used to.
All in all, I was happy to invest another £150 to get them installed.

After shopping, I cycled to Costa on Old Street to have a quick-lunch with my hubbie.
When my hubbie asked me what day it was, I answered ‘Is it Wednesday?’
‘Really? I lost the track of time’.Then I checked my iPhone and found today was Thursday?!
How did I get muddled up? What happened to my memory???

I munched on a toasted farafel wrap, thinking what did I do on tuesday…

Brompton returns

I let go of my Brommie for overnight. The bike was left in the workshop at Cycle Surgery, Spitalfields.
It was a kind of weird to see a vacant spot near the front door where my Brompton was normally stationed.

After parting from my bike, I had a little stroll to Brick Lane.
Off Corbet Place, I found a strange structure…

Image

What is this for? Looks very elaborate, doesn’t it?
Oh well, I shall find out when I visit there again on Sunday with Fei & Letizia…

On my way home from Spitalfields, I came across another curious sight off Pitfield Street.
Aske Garden had a makeover and looked amazing!

Image

Is Nike doing any event?
Apparently, they were hosting 3 on 3 pick up basketball game last night.
I pondered if I wanted to go and see it. In the end, I decided against it though.

Then at home, I carried on knitting while watching The Best of Men on BBC iPlayer.

Image

I was rather restless all day today. Couldn’t wait to be reunited with my Brommie!
Then around 5pm, I scurried to Spitalfields, with a cycle helmet dangling from my Mulberry Alexa satchel.
Oh my Brommie, you look sound! Do you see the change?
A new rear rack and two more Easy Wheels are installed! It will make my bike slightly heavier. However, rolling it around when it is folded will be much easier. The thought of being able to swivel the bike around the aisles of supermarket rather than having to drag it makes me soooo happpppppyyyy!…

Image

Let’s go home, shall we?
Oh, how much I love cycling in this city…

Image

Instead of going home straight, I cycled to Clerkenwell.
I invited my hubbie to join me at Starbuck on Goswell Road for a well-earned latte break…

Image

And shared a slice of granola bar. My hubbie’s choice, of course.
He likes anything ‘oaty’…

Image

I prefer cakes with less fibre & cinnamon, I must say…

Rain or shine

Oh, what a rain it was!
I felt really sorry for those marathon runners who had to splash their way across the huge paddle which formed after the downpour this morning. The shoes getting waterlogged and having to keep on running, it doesn’t sound very pleasant, does it? Oh well, being an Olympic champion is not an easy business…
I missed the Women’s Marathon today. However, my friend Beverlie, my hubbie and I are determined to be along the route for the Men’s Marathon next Sunday. Guildhall will be just 15mins walk from our place. Otherwise, it would be a silly thing to miss it, wouldn’t it?

Image

My cold is on last legs (eventually!). Therefore, I am gonna cycle along the route during the week and scout possible vantage points. I may carry out the mission on Tuesday since the Men’s Triathlon will be on that day. Exciting, huh?

A customary breakfast at our local greasy spoon…

Image

For the presentation skill, it was a lot to be desired.
I fancied scramble egg instead of my regular, fried eggs. My verdict? Mmm… a thumb down, lamentably.
The egg was definitely overdone. Oh well, never mind.

While my hubbie was at the till, Mr.B waits for him patiently…

Next stop, a dry cleaner!

Cycle safety

So sad to learn that a cyclist was killed by an Olympic bus on last Wednesday.
Like Bradley Wiggins had rightly put it, London is not a safe place for cyclists.
A few weeks ago, I received a letter from Metropolitan Police about the accident I was involved in May. The police found the black cab guilty of not driving with due care & attention. Now, I have started a legal claim towards him in order to recover my cost and compensation. In a way, I am luckier than that poor cyclist who was killed by the bus. Because I am here, alive, to tell the tale.

R.I.P, Dan Harris. My heart goes out to you and your family…
