Très très triste…

I am devastated by the news of the fire which gave an extensive damage to Norte-Dame, Paris. The sight of the spire being consumed by the flame was sickening and like the rest of onlookers, I felt helpless and very very sad.

My only visit to the cathedral was more than twenty years ago but I vividly remember the scale of this special place. The vaulted ceiling was awe-inspiringly high and the space had this atmosphere which was best described as “otherworldly”. The atmosphere was calm and serene despite the murmurs of by the visitors and made me envious of local Parisians who were lucky enough to call the place as their local church.

I have learnt from the latest news that the famous stained glass may not have survived and I feel numb from the shock. Why this has happened? The cathedral survived something as destructive as WWll, then succumbed to the fire caused by probably a human error during a restoration work. It’s too ironic and sad.

I don’t want to be fearful but the present world seems to be a full of calamities and it depresses me. This is not my excuse about not updating my blog but I am simply not in the mood to write anything…
