Bella the Destroyer

Oh boy, our Bella turns out to be even mightier than we first thought! Even her vet was surprised how strong she was.

It had been almost four months since Bella was last wormed, therefore, I needed to buy Drontal from the vet. I ordered it over the phone, and they wanted to know exactly how much she weighed so they could administer a correct dose of the wormer. I knew roughly how heavy (or light) she was  – she hopped on the scale in our walk-in-wardrobe one evening, and it indicated she was around 3kg. ‘Why don’t you bring Bella with you? We haven’t seen her for a while.’, the receptionist suggested. Since Bella loved visiting her vet (unlike Mr.B), we travelled together so they could see how much she had grown.

‘OMG! Bella has changed!!’, the nurses squealed when we walked into the practice. ‘She has grown, hasn’t she?’ ‘Her coat has gone much lighter too!’ Last time they saw her was when she was still sporting her dark puppy coat. One of them cuddled her in her arms and the other girl fed her a treat. No wonder Bella loved her vet!

So how much she weighs precisely? It is not 3kg but 2.6kg! A 1kg dumb-bell is about 38% of her body weight, and she can carry it around with her jaw and trot around the room twice. Could I carry around 16kg in my jaw? Faye, her vet, was very impressed how strong her neck was.

Yorkie of Steel

‘Bella never ceases to surprise us, does she?’ Hubbie and I shook our heads in disbelief.

In front of us, there was a 2lb dumb-bell which was chewed up by our girl Bella. The neoprene fabric around the handle was peeled off by her small but sharp teeth, and it was obvious that the handwright was a write-off.

How did she managed to get her savage fangs into the dumb-bell in the first place? Wasn’t it stored on the lower shelf of the Boby trolley by Hubbie’s desk? However, the article was found on the floor, well away from the trolley. How did it get there?

Bella, did you carry it…?

I placed the dumb-bell in front of her for a reconstruction of the crime scene.

Show me, Bella. How did you do it?

OMG, she, who weighs less than 3kg, carried away a 1kg hand weight in her jaw!! ‘She is strong, isn’t she?’ Hubbie trotted after her, trying to recover the dumb-bell. But Bella, the Yorkie of Steel, outran him while the weight in her mouth!

I am glad that I’m not the receiving end of Bella’s canine entertainments…
